Short review Great food, Great prices, Great service.
This place is a land mark we ate dinner in the dining room. They have a bar side also. The service was awesome from the start with drinks served promptly. The prices are what you would normal expect when going out. Dinners were around 15 - 20 . they include pick three soup, salad, vegetable of the day, fries, or baked potato. This place opened in 1736 there's history here. I drove by here so many times wanting to eat here. Well I did tonight and i was impressed. Doesn't seen like there to busy during the week. Please give this historic restaurant a shot.
*****All the other reviews are for the bar side which is totally separate and has a different menu and feel.*****
Good homemade food at good prices! Crabcakes are all crab...burgers are good and cooked the way you like them!
This is our new favorite family restaurant! The service is fast and very friendly-they made us feel very welcome, my son kept saying we need to eat here more often! My children shared a pizza, which is all homemade and fresh, my husband got the chicken Parmesan sandwich which he said was one of the best he's had in a long time. I had the turkey Panini which also was amazing. For dessert we shared a pineapple pie and a chocolate cake with almond icing and ice cream, all very tasty. You should definitely try this place out!
Not wanting to cook last night, we decided to head down to our favorite area bar-restaurant, just five minutes from home. This is our go-to place whether we crave an excellent cheesesteak sandwich and fries with a couple of draughts or a complete meal. For our cheesesteaks we'll sit at a table in the old timey bar area. We miss the brass foot rest and wastewater trough running along the bottom of the bar that were removed several years ago, yet the place still maintains much of it's character with the original bar and back mirrors. It's the ultimate neighborhood hangout with contemporary touches in the menu offerings. Most important, the service is consistently friendly and accommodating. It's not uncommon for one of the family owners to stop by your table to have a chat. Desiring a meal last night we opted to sit in the restaurant area. The décor here is a dated yet clean and adequate for it's purpose. Though they were quite busy, we were promptly seated by our server. During our stay we found her to be pleasant and efficient. She was working the whole room yet our food choices came to us in a reasonable amount of time, The menu consists of their comprehensive standard fare with an insert describing four or five special items. One of us ordered the shrimp platter from the menu that consisted of at least a dozen of lightly breaded medium sized shrimp that were flavorful and had the texture to suggest that they were freshly prepared and not out of a box. They were accompanied by an abundance of perfect French fries and a side of coleslaw. Our other choice was Black and Blue shrimp salad from the special menu. It consisted of a plentiful amount of mixed greens, vegetables, and crumbled blue cheese, topped with many beautifully grilled shrimp. Dressing was on the side. The salad could not have been better...delicious!
You WILL NOT find a better small town bar then this. Everything is homemade and I mean everything, down to the dinner rolls. Service is always warm and friendly, it's the small town bar you see on television. It's not a fufu place as far as decor goes, the bar is original to the building and it's very cool. Two people can eat their fill of homemade deliciousness and spend under $20.00. Extensive beer menu and eats of all kinds. If you want hometown charm, amazing good at seriously reasonable prices then you must stop here. Everyone here is always nice, patrons, owners and servers alike.
